There’s a new No. 1 in the AVCA poll after Minnesota dropped its first match of the season on Sunday. Florida (9-0) took over the top spot, moving up from No. 3 in last week’s poll.

Last week’s No. 2 Penn State also dropped a match last week, opening the door for Stanford to move up into that spot from No. 4.

Minnesota and Penn State checked in tied for third, while Texas moved up from six to five as last week’s No. 5 Wisconsin dropped to No. 7.

Big movers in the poll were No. 8 Nebraska, which rose six spots after downing Penn State in the Big Ten opener, and No. 16 Michigan State, which jumped up from vote getter after knocking off both Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Those on the decent included Oregon, which dropped from eight to 12 after a loss to then-No. 11 UCLA, and Purdue, which fell six spots from 13 to 19 after a four-set loss to unranked Ohio State.

Only one team dropped out of the poll this week, No. 25 Colorado, which fell to No. 16 Utah and No. 4 Stanford.
