2018 FIVB Men’s Nations League

Matthew Anderson is the biggest name in Team USA’s preliminary roster for the inaugural edition of the Men’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League. The Zenit Kazan star, considered to be one of the world’s top stars, will be USA’s biggest weapon en route to the title, if he indeed participates in the competition. Team USA is currently the 2nd best ranked team in FIVB’s senior rankings, behind only Brazil. It won the FIVB’s World League, the competition that gave place to FIVB’s Nations League, twice, in 2008 and 2014. Last year, it finished in 4th place.

Garrett Muagututia and Thomas Carmody are not returning from last year’s FIVB World League squad. Meanwhile, Aaron Russell, Brenden Sander, David Wieczorek, Jonah Seif, Kyle Ensing, Matthew Anderson, Maxwell Holt, Michael Brinkley, Miles Johnson, and Mitchell Stahl were not in the 2016 WL roster, but are registered for this year’s competition. The current list is not final though, as coach John Speraw will have to whittle don the roster to 14 players prior to every week’s play.
