Italian middle-blocker Laura Melandri has signed a new contract to play for Imoco Volley Conegliano for the upcoming 2017/18 season. Melandri is transferring from Il Bisonte Firenze, who played in the Serie A1.

One of the best blockers in the Serie A1, Melandri ended the season as the third-best middle-blocker with 63 blocks. Il Bisonte finished the 2016/17 season in 9th place with an 11-11 record. Bisonte lost the final series to Imoco 1-3, ultimately ending their season.

Melandri expressed her gratitude and her excitement towards Imoco, “I thank Imoco Volley for this great opportunity. It’s very important for my development to be a member of such a team that has big goals. It will be nice to test myself in this new adventure for me.” She will look to make an immediate impact for Imoco.

Melandri first played for Volley Bergamo from 2010 to 2015, then transferring to River Piacenza for the 2015/16 season. Then, she moved to play for Riviera S. Casciano for the 2016/17 season.

While Melandri is adding to Imoco’s list of middle-blockers, Imoco is loosing American opposite Nicole Fawcett. American outside-hitter Kim Hill has also recently transferred to Imoco for the upcoming season along with another American outside-hitter Megan Easy, who is making the return to Imoco. On top of all of these transfers, Imoco just appointed their new head coach, Daniele Santarelli.
