With all the results from Saturday’s Group 2 action, there is only one spot remaining for the Group 2 Finals in Australia. Japan and China will battle against each other on Sunday in Kunshan, China for that spot.

Here are the finishing possibilities for the teams in Group 2.

Slovenia currently at 7-1 with 21 points (Qualified)

Slovenia will be the number 1 seed by winning 2 sets against Portugal on Sunday. Slovenia would reach 22 points and the Netherlands can only reach 21, when tied on wins.

Netherlands currently at 6-2 with 18 points (Qualified)

Netherlands clinched on Saturday with a win over Slovakia. Could be the number 1 seed with a win in 3 or 4 sets and Slovenia loss in less than 5 sets. Netherlands would win set ratio tiebreaker.

Japan currently at 5-3 with 15 points

Japan plays China on Sunday. If Japan win, they will be at 6 wins and a minimum of 17 points they will book their ticket to Australia. If they lose in 5 sets, they will reach 16 points and China, Czech and Slovakia can only reach 15 points, again Japan goes to Australia. A loss in less than 5 and Japan is out.

Australia at 5-3 with 13 points in as Finals hosts (Qualified)

China currently at 4-4 with 13 points

China must win on Sunday in 3 or 4 sets. Any other result and they are out.

Czech Republic and Slovakia can get to 5 wins and 15 points, but China-Japan match result prevents them from advancing.
