The current European Champions and Olympic silver medalists once again dazzled fans with their uptempo play en route to a 2nd place finish (12-3 record) in VNL’s preliminary phase.  It hopes to do the same but now in the playoffs. Coach Zoran Terzic cut Sladjana Mirkovic, Jovana Jovicic, Sara Lozo, and Katarina Lazovic, making way for the return of  Ana Antonijević, Tijana Bošković, Silvija Popovic, and Stefan Veljković. After two friendlies against a local Chinese team, Serbia is ready to go all out. Sadly, it will have to do without one of its biggest stars, Brankica Mihajlović, who is out with injury. Here is what the full roster looks like :

  • Bojana Živković – S
  • Ana Antonijević – S
  • Ana Bjelica – Opp
  • Tijana Bošković – Opp
  • Silvija Popovic – L
  • Teodora Pusic – L
  • Milena Rašić – MB
  • Stefan Veljković – MB
  • Jovana Stevanović – MB
  • Maya Aleksić – MB
  • Jelena Blagojević – OH
  • Tijana Malešević – OH
  • Bjanka Buša – OH
  • Bojana Milenković – OH

Although the whole of Serbia’s roster is very powerful, with most players being among the competition’s best performers, it’s safe to say Boškovic’s star shines the brightest. The youngsters is VNL’s third highest scorer, despite having missed quite a few matches, and is the competition’s most effective hitter at a 49.3% clip.
