It was a big day in the Big 12. Texas Tech defeated West Virginia, 3-1, for its first 2-0 start in the Big 12 since 2000, Kansas earned its 7th consecutive win over TCU and Baylor sophomore Yossiana Pressley had a record-breaking day.
The Top 25 matchup between 6th-ranked Texas and 23rd-ranked Kansas State was all that and then some, as it took 5 sets for the Longhorns to earn the victory on the road. The surprise of the night came in Waco, Texas, as Texas Tech knocked off 12th-ranked Baylor for its first ranked win since 2012.
Overall, the Big 12 has challenged itself against the nation’s best in the non-conference slate, which makes its collective 70-32 (.686) pre-conference mark deceiving.
Once again, Texas goes into a season as the favorites in the Big 12.
