The qualification round of the AVP Tour stop in Seattle has concluded, with four teams from each gender moving on to the main draw of the tournament.
The opening round of the AVP New York Gold Series stop has concluded with a few shake-ups occurring in the first matches of the day on the men’s side, while the women’s side remained fairly consistent throughout the day, with a near top-four showdown in the first elimination rounds.
Much like the FIVB’s new star rating system for their tournaments, the AVP has added a new elevated beach volleyball series into their line-up called the Gold Series.
The top four men’s seeds advanced to the semifinals of the Austin Open, while seeds No. 2, 3, 4 and 9 will vie for podium spots on the women’s side.
No. 9 seeded Amanda Dowdy and Irene Pollock scored the biggest upset of the tournament so far, taking down No. 1 seed and Huntington Beach Open runnerup Betsi Flint and Kelley Larsen.
