The final stop on the King of the Court Crown Series tour hits Huntington Beach, California on Saturday with 20 men’s and 20 women’s teams competing.
The King of the Court Crown Series makes its third stop of the season in Waikiki, for a dual gender event, following men’s only events in Utrecht, Netherlands, and Antwerp, Belgium.
As the sun set on Chicago Saturday night, the semifinals field was set for the AVP Gold Series Championships, though the day was ripe with upsets in the contender’s bracket, with No. 18 Terese Cannon/Sarah Sponcil making it all the way back to the semis through five matches.
Taylor Crabb/Jake Gibb will be looking to secure their second straight Hermosa Beach title and second AVP crown of the year. Ed Ratledge/Roberto Rodriguez, Sara Hughes/Summer Ross and Alix Klineman/April Ross also are aiming for their second AVP titles of 2018.
After the first day of main draw action, four men’s teams and four women’s are undefeated atop the winner’s bracket heading into Saturday, including No. 8 Brittany Howard/Kelly Reeves and No. 7 Tim Bomgren/Chaim Schalk.
Seeds 1, 2, 3 and 5 picked up two wins a piece to move on to the AVP New York Gold Series quarterfinals on both the men’s and women’s sides.
The seedings held as No. 1 Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena and Alix Klineman/April Ross wrapped up the gold medals at the Austin Open, the first AVP Tour event of the year.

For the men, qualifying seeds 1-6 as well as the No. 25 and No. 26 teams survived to move on to Friday’s action. The top eight women’s qualifiers advanced.
