Britt Herbots scored a team-best 23 points as Belgium wrapped up VNL play with a victory over Thailand. Although the Final Six was mathematically out of reach, Italy did not hold back in its final match of the VNL, besting Brazil in five sets to end the tournament on an eight-match win streak.
Rosamaria Montibeller led a group of four double-digit scorers for Brazil in a four-set win over Thailand.
Tandara Caixeta scored 15 points in just three sets of action, many coming in a decisive fourth set in Brazil’s win over Belgium, which officially punched the team’s ticket to the VNL Final Six. Italy dominated the net in a quick sweep of Thailand, put-blocking its foes 13-0, to stay in the race for the VNL Final Six.
After four weeks of competition, the United States is the only team that has officially punched its ticket to the Volleyball Nations League Final Six due to results. China is in as the host team.
Russia outscored Brazil in the match, but was unable to get past 18 blocks and a 30-point effort by star Tandara Caixeta in a five-set loss on Thursday.
Lauren Gibbemeyer had a breakout game, posting a match-high 16 points, including eight of the USA’s 14 blocks, as the Americans rolled on to its ninth straight win on Wednesday, besting Brazil 3-1.
Zhu Ting tallied a match-high 34 points and China led Brazil in kills, blocks and aces, but it was not enough to secure a victory on Tuesday.
Team USA will face a loaded slate in Pool 14 of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League with Brazil, Russia and hosts-China.

With Week 3 in the books, the top group of five remains the same, while one team has been mathematically eliminated from the Final 6 race.
