Todor Skrimov did not have the best of weekends. He left the match against France on Friday after the first point with a strain in his calf muscle. Skrimov had to miss the next matches of the weekend in front of the home crowd Varna. Those matches were a 3-0 win over Canada and a 3-2 victory over Brazil. The news for Skrimov was not all bad this past week as he signed a contract for the 2018-2019 season in the Italian SuperLega.
Callipo Vibo Valentia has acquired Skrimov’s services for the upcoming year. Valentia finished the regular season in 12th place and were knocked out of the 5th place playoffs in the quarterfinals by BluVolley Verona. Skrimov is leaving the Russian Super League after playing the past season for Nova Novokuibyshevs. His team finished the regular season in 8th position and were eliminated from the playoffs in the quarterfinals by Zenit Kazan. Nova lost to Belogorie Belgorod in the 5th place playoffs.
Skrimov finished the season with 233 points on 197 kills, 12 blocks, and 24 aces. He also had a 48% success rate on the season in attack. This will be his third team in Italy. Skrimov played for Top Volley Latina from 2013-2015 and Revivre Milano from 2015-2017. This is the second signing for Valentia, who also acquired Tsimafei Zhukouski from Lube Civitanova to handle their setting duties.
