Middles Eda Erdem Dundar and Zehra Gunes chipped in 10 points (7 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace) and 9 points (all on kills) respectively to assist Boz in the victory. Seyma Ercan (7) and Meliha Ismailoglu (6) rounded out the scoring for Turkey, turning in five kills apiece.
Marlies Janssens and Kaja Grobelna were the top scorers for Belgium with 11 and 10 points respectively. Grobelna downed nine kills alongside Celine Van Gestel, while Janssens added seven kills and a team-best four aces. Britt Herbots posted six points in two full sets of action.
The teams were tied at 7-all in Set 1 before Turkey pulled away en route to a 25-19 win as Boz piled up eight points.
In Set 2, Boz and the Turkish side won 25-18 despite a strong effort by Janssens.
Belgium boasted a 13-9 lead midway through Set 3 and boasted a 20-17 edge late in the stanza, only to be outscored 7-3 down to see Turkey seize its first match-point try at 24-23. Fittingly, Boz put down the final kill at 26-24 to close out the sweep.
Serbia def. Russia 3-0
- Serbia defeated Russia 25-23, 25-19, 25-18
- Serbia moved to 6-1 (18 points); Russia moved to 4-3 (12 points)
Tijana Boskovic delivered 25 points as Serbia topped Russia in every statistical category in a sweep.
Boskovic notched 21 kills, two blocks and two aces to pace the Serbs. Her nearest help came in the form of Jovana Stevanovic, Milena Rasic and Bojana Milekovic, who tallied seven points apiece. Stevanovic and Rasic put up a team-leading four blocks apiece, while Milenkovic added two stuffs and five kills. Brankica Mihajlovic, who ranked seventh in the VNL in scoring coming into the match, played just two sets, scoring five points on four kills and an ace.
Irina Voronkova was a one-woman show for Russia, scoring 17 points with 13 kills and four blocks. Olga Biryukova and Angelina Lazarenko followed with six and five points respectively. Kseniia Parubets, who ranked fifth in the VNL in scoring, played just two sets as a substitute, notching two kills in three swings.
Serbia bested Russia in kills (36-30), blocks (12-7), aces (5-4) and points off errors (22-19).
Boskovic racked up 13 points in a 25-23 Set 1 win for Serbia. Voronkova answered with 10 points, but it was not enough to earn Russia the victory.
Russia could not get out of its own way in Set 2, giving away points on errors and helping Serbia to a 25-19 win.
Set 3 was error riddled on both sides, but Serbia built a 23-17 lead. A Boskovic kill was then called long, but overturned on a block touch after a challenge by Zoran Terzic giving the Serbians their first match-point try. Another challenge followed two points later as Russia looked to have a ball called in off the block, but it was denied, giving Serbia the 25-18 win and the home sweep.
