Estonia posted a 5-1 overall record for the World League, with a total of 13 points to give them the third place ranking in Group 3 and a spot in the semifinals. Their competitor is host Mexico, who finished ninth in the standings.
Robert Taht has led the Estonian crew in the two weeks on play, having posted 74 points so far on 58 kills, seven blocks and nine aces. The squad’s only loss in the tournament came to Tunisia on the second day of competition in a four-set match. They placed second in Pool B3 behind Tunisia in points but dominated Pool D3 with a 3-0 record in the second week.
Mexico has a good start in the World League, placing second in Pool A3 losing only to Spain, who is in the other semifinal match against Germany. In Pool F3, Mexico took on both Germany and Spain, losing to both, along with dropping a match to Austria, posting a 0-3 record on the weekend. Jorge Barajas has led the Mexican crew with 84 points scored over the two weeks of play on 77 kills, four block and three aces.
Estonia will try to keep things rolling, while Mexico will attempt to start over in the semifinal match.
