Rumors have it that Modena’s truce with Earvin Ngapeth was only a smoke-screen after all. Bulgarian website Sportal.bg has recently published that even though the club was able to smooth things out between Ngapeth and coach Radostin Stoythcev, the compromise was only achieved after Modena agreed to release the Frenchman at the end of the season from the contract that binds him to the club through 2020.
With the agreement, Ngapeth would then be able to transfer out of the club, and take his best friend Bruninho with him, supposedly to Russian powerhouse Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. It was stated by the media that Bruninho stood by Ngapeth’s side throughout the whole ordeal with Modena and coach Stoytchev. The duo is considered one of the best 1-2 punches in the world.
Bruninho, though, recently said in an interview that he plans to play in Modena until his 40’s.
Originally, it was rumored that the Ngapeth’s feud with coach Stoytchev started when the player skipped two days of training in Modena after Stoytchev denied the his request to travel to France after one of Modena‘s games. It is important to note, though, that Ngapeth’s history of indiscipline is long, as he just added another case of drunk driving to his file, which probably does not sit well with Stoytchev, known to be one of volleyball’s strictest coaches. Ngapeth then did not dress up for Modena’s game against Padova last week, a a 3-1 loss. It was Modena‘s third loss of the season, as it now sits in 3rd place of Serie A1’s standings with a 10-3 record.
