Although Brazil has more scenarios in which they can secure a bid to the semifinal round, Russia has an opportunity to move on to the final four as well.

Brazil started off the Final Six with a four set victory over Canada for a 1-0 start with a maximum of three points. Russia had the opposite start, as they lost yesterday to Canada 3-0. Those results put Brazil atop the standings, with Canada in second at 1-1 (three points) and Russia in last at 0-1 (0 points). Although Brazil can finish in first of the pool, only Canada has clinched a spot in the semifinal round.

Brazil just needs to win one set in the match, because even if they lost 3-1, all three teams in the pool would be 1-1 with three points. The tiebreaker would then go to set ratio, which Canada would be 4:3 along with Brazil as long as they took a set. Russia would be at just 3:4 in that scenario. The tie for who would be the top team and number two in the group (between Canada and Brazil) would then go to point ratio. If Brazil wins at least two sets in the match, they would win the group (to face second place from Pool K1) with Canada coming in second (to play first place in Pool K1).

Russia on the other hand has one route to the final four: a 3-0 win over Brazil. They’ll have to play a great match as they will be the road team against Final Six host Brazil.
