VolleyMob’s National Player Of The Week: LBSU’s TJ DeFalco

After helping his teams to their first ever MPSF championship, Long Beach State’s TJ DeFalco earns this week’s VolleyMob National Player of the Week.

In the quarterfinal match to USC, DeFalco put down 12 kills on a .355 hitting percentage and only one error. DeFalco also contributed three assists, four of the teams eight service aces, six digs and two blocks.

DeFalco added 10 kills in the semifinal match against UC Irvine with a .240 hitting percentage. He also recorded one service ace, three digs and four blocks.

In the championship match against Hawaii, DeFalco slammed down another 12 kills on a .429 hitting clip. He came up just one dig short of a double-double in the finals match, recording nine and one block. DeFalco was named the MPSF Tournament MVP with his solid all-around performance in each of the matches.

With the win over the Warriors, DeFalco recorded his 28th double-figure scoring match of the year.

On the year, DeFalco has put down 407 kills for an average of 3.99 kills per set ranking sixth in the nation. Also ranked in the top-10, DeFalco comes in at #7 in hitting percentage with an average hitting clip of .394. He has also comes out second on LBSU’s squad with 176 digs on the year and is tied with setter Josh Tuaniga with 30 service aces.
