Argentina will be looking to cement its status as the biggest contenders for a new spot on men’s volleyball pantheon by facing Cuba at the FIVB Mens’ U23 World Championship semifinals. A rising presence in South American volleyball for the last five years, a trip to the finals of a such important youth tournament would help to build its case as an up and coming volleyball force to be dealt with in the future.
The Argentinians will be led by their experienced middle blocker, Gaston Fernandez, while Cuba will be captained in the defense of its rich volleyball tradition by its gem setter Adrian Arredondo, of only 19 years of age, but already with an Olympic Games participation under his belt.
