Serbia and France face-off tonight with one of the two teams advancing to the semifinals. It’s a more difficult task for the Serbians than the French though, as Serbia needs to not only win, but do so convincingly.

  • If Serbia wins 3-0 or 3-1, all teams would finish 1-1. USA would finish first with four points, Serbia would finish in second with three points and France would not make the semifinals with just two points.
  • If Serbia wins 3-2, all teams would finish 1-1. USA would finish first with four points, France would finish in second with three points and Serbia would not make the semifinals with just two points.
  • If France win by any score, they would finish 2-0. That would put the U.S. in second at 1-1 and Serbia in last at 0-2.

As match time approaches between Serbia and France, 6’7″ Serbian spiker Aleksander Atanasijevic still has hopes the team can make the semifinal round. He knows though, that it’s going to take one of Serbia’s best performances after they were surprised by the United States in their previous match.
