No. 2 Penn State, which topped No. 5 Stanford for the second time in 2017, and Minnesota, which bested No. 4 Texas picked up big wins with NCAA Tournament ramifications.
For the most part, ranked teams held their positions, with a handful of exceptions.
No. 7 Creighton fell to No. 19 Purdue in four sets on Friday, but redeemed itself with a sweep of No. 9 Kansas on Saturday in Lawrence.
No. 12 Nebraska swept a pair of matches from No. 11 UCLA, although both were contested in Lincoln, so the wins were not quite upsets despite the quick nature.
No. 17 Michigan was edged by No. 20 Colorado State on Friday, meanwhile No. 13 BYU fell in five sets against vote-getter Baylor on Saturday. The win was significant for the Bears, as it marked their first win over a Top 10 AVCA foe since 2009.
No. 24 Ohio State dropped a road match to Notre Dame in South Bend on Sunday. No. 25 Illinois fell victim to an unranked foe in Colorado, losing a hotly contested five-set affair Saturday night.
