2018 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League

At the end of Day 7, the VNL men’s top five are Brazil, Poland, France, Canada and the United States, with the teams divided by just four points. France is already guaranteed a spot in the Final Six by virtue of being the event host.

Brazil surged into the top spot in the standings with a four-set win over Russia, including 11 aces.

Poland narrowly avoided an upset, picking up a five-set win over Italy, thanks to 15 blocks and 33 Italian errors.

The United States was not as lucky, falling in a surprise sweep at the hands of giant killer Germany, who handed Poland its lone loss to wrap up Week 2 play. The Germans bested the Americans in every way, seemingly still reeling from dropping a five-setter to Brazil last week after leading 2-0.

Canada avoided a home upset, shaking off Australia late in each set of a sweep to vault ahead of the United States in the standings.

Here’s a look at the day’s results
