2017 FIVB WORLD LEAGUE

France’s Stephen Boyer remains on fire after the third week of play in the FIVB World League. Over the course of nine matches of play, Boyer has accumulated a total of 165 points on 135 kills, 13 blocks and 17 aces. This incredible feat is 18 points higher than the next highest scorer in Group 1 of Tsvetan Sokolov of Bulgaria who has 147 points.

After a great weekend of play, Boyer was named as the FIVB World League player of the week.

In Group 2, China’s Chuan Jiang was just one point shy of Boyer, with 164 points in the competition, while Wouter Ter Maat of the Netherlands comes in second with 151 points. Ter Maat’s point total was enough to help the Dutch crew into the Final Four of Group 2, while Jiang’s all-around performance didn’t help China’s case, as they were unable to qualify for the finals.

Group 3 play featured one less match over the course of three weeks for a number of teams, with the bottom group only having two weeks of preliminary play before their finals matches. Estonia had a great run in their first ever World League performance, making it to the finals and eventually defeating Spain for the Group 3 title. Robert Taht led Estonia with 101 points in the competition, ranking in at fifth. Spain’s Andres J. Villena was the points leader in Group 3 with 124 points.
