After 22 exciting rounds of play, Superliga’s regular season is over and we get to know playoff match-ups and relegation duds. Here is the full recap:
- Corinthians/Guarulhos beat JF Vôlei 3-1 (25/20 33/31 17/25 25/19) behind Rodrigo Nascimento‘s 21 points. Emerson Rodriguez had 22 points in the losing effort. Corinthians hit 57% from the field while holding JF to a 51% effort.
- Minas Tenis Clube came back from behind to beat Lebes/Canoas 3-2 (25/18 25/19 16/25 19/25 12/15) behind Flavio Gualberto’s 19 points on 10/12 hitting (83%), including 7 blocks and 2 aces. Michel Saraiva had 14 points in the losing effort. Canoas‘ downfall was its 22 service errors.
- Montes Claros Vôlei beat Ponta Grossa/Caramuru 3-0 (25/27 19/25 21/25) behind Fabrício Dias (Lorena) 14 points. Leonardo Pinheiro had 12 points in the losing effort. Montes Claros only committed 15 errors in the whole game.
- Copel Telecom/Maringá beat Vôlei Renata/Campinas 3-0 (28/26 25/22 25/20) behind Kaio Roberto’s 18 points on 15/20 hitting. Leandro Vissotto had 22 points in the losing effort. This was by far Maringá’s best game of the season, as it hit 60% as a team, had 7 aces, and only 1 reception error.
- Sesi/SP beat Sesc/Rj 3-1 (25/20 23/25 21/25 20/25) behind Alan Souza‘s 21 points. Renan Buiatti had 15 points in the losing effort. This was SESC‘s 3rd straight loss, but a Taubaté loss allowed it to clinch the playoff’s 2nd seed despite of that fact.
- Sada/Cruzeiro beat EMS Funvic/Taubaté 3-1 (25/15 22/25 25/23 25/17) behind Evandro Guerra‘s 20 points on 19/31 (60%) hitting. Otávio Pinto had 10 points in the losing effort. Cruzeiro hit 57% from the field as a team while holding Taubaté to a 41% effort.
Tem of the Week: Sesi/SP
Sesc gave a lot of trouble to Superliga’s most traditional teams this season. But Sesi wasn’t all fazed by he newcomers, as it twice handed them a 3-1 loss, sweeping their season series. This round’s triumph allowed Sesi to steal away the 3rd seed from Taubaté, which means it will face a less menacing Corinthians squad than an up and coming Minas Team.
Player of the Week: Evandro Guerra
The Olympic gold medalist has played a fine Superliga, but on a team with Yoandy Leal and Robertlandy Simon, sometimes you get overlooked offensively, even though you are the team’s opposite hitter. Evandro’s 20 points on 19/31 (60%) hitting in the last game of the season will remind teams that he too is a formidable weapon.
