2017 FIVB VOLLEYBALL WORLD GRAND PRIX – GROUP 1

  • Group 1, Pool F1
  • July 7th – August 6th
  • Kaliningrad, Russia
  • FIVB World Grand Prix Round 1
  • Schedule/Results

With a pair of 2-0 teams in Pool F1 meeting for the final match in the four-team pairing, the Pool F1 champion will be determined by the winner of Netherlands against Russia.

The Dutch side aren’t just vying for first in the pool, but they’re doing the same at the top of the Group 1 table. Coming into the day they were in second, but only trailed first in set ratio. They’ll also be looking for the sum of money teams receive for winning a pool – which they did last week in Pool C1.

Russia started 0-3 in the tournament after giving away three straight 2-1 set leads that turned into losses. The two wins this week have been a nice response, and although they’re still at 2-3 and on the outside looking-in of the final six, they’re in a good position with tie breakers because they have so many points.

Beyond this match serving implications on the pool-victor and the overall Group 1 table, it also is a rematch of the 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix third-place match. Netherlands came out on top in that as they came from down two sets to win in five.
