Team of The Week: Minas
After surrendering a loss to Superliga’s second-to-last ranked club JF Vôlei 3 rounds ago, Minas has recovered with 3 straight 3-0 wins against much better opponents. This round, it went head to head against Campinas in a battle that all but eliminated Campinas‘ chances of a making a run at it 5th spot on Superliga’s standings. It was a tough, close game, but when a team hits 64% from the field, it shows concentration and tactical discipline. Minas must have worked hard all week to finally get its squad ready for Superliga’s final home stretch.
Player of The Week: Otávio Pinto
Taubaté, which invested on a star studded roster to finally win a Superliga title, saw most of its hopes go down with Ricardo Lucarelli’s season-ending injury. This does not mean, however, that the players have given up on their season. The team is still holding fast to Superliga’s 4th best record, much due to the playing of standouts like Otavio Pinto. The talented middle blocker had 22 points on 13/19 (68%) hitting, including 8 blocks, on the team’s win against Canoas: A perfect, dominant, all-around performance, at the game’s most clutch moments.
