2017 FIVB VOLLEYBALL WORLD GRAND PRIX – POOL C1

  • Group 1, Pool C1
  • July 7th – July 9th
  • FIVB World Grand Prix Round 1
  • Omnisport Apeldoorn, Appeldoorn, Netherlands
  • Schedule/Results

The Dutch will host Japan in the Pool C1 finale as Netherlands has already locked up the pool victory. Knowing that the overall standings are what truly matters though (except for the financial aspect for winning your pool), Netherlands will be looking to gain an edge and get to 3-0.

Netherlands started 2-0 by defeating the Dominican Republic and Thailand. Not only would a win over Japan mean a 3-0 start and a perfect weekend in Pool C1, but it would also give the Dutch side their 75th win in World Grand Prix history. Celeste Plak has been the top scorer in both opening matches with 34 total points (17 in each).

Japan got off on the right foot with a win over Thailand in day one, but fell yesterday against Dominican Republic. They will need the win today to finish with a winning record in the opening weekend before they change pools in week two.

The all-time series lead is held by Netherlands at 6-4, as this will be the 11th all-time meeting between the sides in FIVB World Grand Prix history.
