Four of the six Group 2 matches were over after just three sets as Poland, Germany, South Korea and Puerto Rico scored sweeps. Poland remains in the overall lead in the group at 5-0, while Korea, Germany and the Czech Republic check in at 4-1.
Canada’s Elizabeth Wendel was the top scorer of the day, posting 24 points as her team faced off against Bulgaria, falling in four sets. Wendel managed 16 kills, four blocks and four aces.
Columbia’s Dayana Segovia scored 21 points, including 19 kills, in a four-set win over Kazakhstan. Yeon Koung Kim added 19 points, including 16 kills in a sweep of Peru.
As a team, Puerto Rico managed 14 blocks in a three-set win over the Czech Republic.
