The semifinalists for Group 2 are already locked in, including the Czech Republic as the host side, but play continued on Saturday to hash out some of the lower seedings.
South Korea, Poland and Germany each registered sweeps to remain atop the group at 7-1. Outside of the semifinal race, Canada managed a four-set win over Peru, Bulgaria swept Croatia and Argentina controlled Puerto Rico in a 3-0 match.
Canada’s Kyla Richey (22) and Elizabeth Wendel (20) led all scorers on the day, tallying 17 kills apiece. Richey also chipped in four blocks and an ace, while Wendel added three stuffs. Bulgaria’s Dobriana Rabadzhieva scored 20 points, posting 17 kills, two aces and a block, in just three sets.
Canada racked up 18 blocks in its 3-1 win over Peru, while Poland tallied 11 blocks in a sweep of Kazakhstan.
