FIVB World Grand Prix

Turkey will have a familiar and seasoned line up on the court at the World Grand Prix in July, with the entire roster having also been available for the European Qualifications, where the team earned an automatic berth to the 2018 World Championships by winning Pool C at 5-0.

The team finished ninth at the 2012 Olympics but missed out on the 2016 Games. The Turkish side will be looking to return to the form that earned them a bronze at the 2012 World Grand Prix. After finishing fourth in 2014, the team came in 11th and 10th respectively in 2015 and 2016.

Five players from this year’s squad won the 2017 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship and CEV Champions League titles with Vakifbank: libero Gigem Orge, middle blocker Kubra Akman (MB), middle blocker Ozge Nur Yurtdagulen, opposite Melis Durul  and outside hitter Cansu Cetin (OH)

Outside hitters Hande Baladin and Gozde Yilmaz have gotten good experience already in 2017, playing for Eszacibasi Istanbul, which finished fourth at the CEV Championships League.

Turkey begins its journey to the top of the World Grand Prix with a July 7 match against Serbia.
