Poland, Czech Republic Stay Perfect in World League Group 2

Poland and the Czech Republic remained undefeated in Group 2 play with victories on Friday in Pool E2 and F2 respectively. The Polish topped Peru in four sets, while the Czechs edged Bulgaria in five sets, coming back from a 2-1 deficit in the match. South Korea scored the lone sweep of the day, taking out Argentina including a 25-8 drubbing in Set 3, to stay atop the group with 13 points.

Meanwhile, Columbia made history as its four-set win over Croatia marked the first win for the country over a European foe in an FIVB World Grand Prix contest.

Standout individual efforts on the day, included Kazakhstan’s Alla Bogdashkina, who scored 20 points including 11 blocks in a loss to Germany, and the top scorer of the day, Puerto Rico’s Karina Ocasio, who registered 24 points, with 21 kills, two aces and a block in the team’s five-set win over Canada.

Canada racked up 20 team blocks in the five-set loss as did Kazakhstan in the four-setter against Germany.

  2. Match points

  4. Points ratio
  5. If the tie continues as per the point ratio between two teams, the priority will be given to the team which won the last match between them. When the tie in points ratio is between three or more teams, a new classification of these teams in the terms of points 1, 2 and 3 will be made taking into consideration only the matches in which they were opposed to each other.
  • Match won 3–0 or 3–1: 3 match points for the winner, 0 match points for the loser
  • Match won 3–2: 2 match points for the winner, 1 match point for the loser
