Italian Women’s National Team head coach Davide Mazzanti sat down with the FIVB at the World Grand Prix and talked about the importance of coaches and the different roles they play for their team.
He said he sees himself as a teacher, a visionary and a strategist. He explained about once dreaming of becoming a teacher and how he implements that as a coach. He discussed his desire to dream of things and make them happen and also of learning from others and applying them to make his team successful.
Mazzanti is in his first year with the Italian side after spending the last two seasons with Imoco Volley Conegliano. Mazzanti has led his squads to three Italian championships: 2010-11 with Volley Bergamo; 2014-15 with VB Casalmaggiore and 2015-16 with Imoco Conegliano.
Thus far at the World Grand Prix, the Italian women have gone 1-2, topping Russia in five sets, but falling to the USA and China in Pool B1.
The Italians begin the next phase of World Grand Prix play on Friday against China in Pool E1. The team is looking to grab its first podium finish since 2010.
