Nicole Fawcett‘s absence in Dentil Praia Clube/Uberlândia‘s last few games didn’t go unnoticed by fans. Now, they have answers, as the club officially stated that the American star has suffered a mild right calf muscle sprain and is without a time table for return, according to Melhordovolei.com.br.

Although at first Uberlândia‘s coaching staff tried to bring her from the bench little by little in her last few games, to see how the injury would evolve, it was clear that Fawcett wasn’t performing at her usual level, so they ultimately decided to shut her down until she makes a full recovery.

“Fawcett will return when she is 100% recovered. Superliga is in its final stages, and will need her at her best because our last games will be very tough. We don’t want to risk losing her for any extra time, or worsen her injury. Our medical staff is fully concentrated in her recovery, as she is already undergoing physiotherapy. She should be ready to return little by little soon.”

An important player in Uberlândia‘s roster, the team will miss Fawcett a great deal. It already lost its most important game of its season so far, the Brazilian Cup finals, to Vôlei Nestlé Osasco, and is starting to show fatigue in Superliga, losing more sets than normal, but still with its perfect record intact. If Uberlândia hopes to win its first ever Superliga title, it must hope for Fawcett to make a full recovery soon.
