Vôlei Nestlé/Osasco beat Dentil Praia Clube/Uberlândia 3-1 (25/17 25/23 20/25 25/14) to even the series at 1-1. Tandara Caixeta led the way for Uberlândia with 23 points while Fernanda Garay had 14 points in the losing effort. Praia only hit 32% from the field as a team in the game, in which it had, perhaps, its worst performances of the season. Here is how Uberlândia‘s coach Paulo Coco reacted after the match:
- “Today the series is tied at 1-1. The reality is that this is a pretty even match up. Now we’ll have another home game to continue the series. We have to focus on this third game. Our game at Osasco is now a thing of the past. We have to be more regular as a team, play with more aggressiveness. That is the way to our victory. We need to think one game at a time. Our next game will be at home, with the support of our fans. But fans, don’t win games, work does. We need to work now.”
Sesc/RJ opened up a 2-0 series lead by beating Camponesa/Minas 3-0 (25/16 25/21 25/14) behind Drussyla Costa‘s 13 points. Destinee Hooker had 14 points in the losing effort on 13/35 (37%) hitting, while Sonja Newcombe contributed with 7 points on 5/19 (26%) hitting. Minas hit an Abysmal 29% from the field. Here is how both teams reacted after the game:
- “Today was our worst game of the season. We have to come in the game different than we did today. Against Sesc, we have to be perfect. Today we weren’t. I hope that Saturday we’ll be able to overcome this and win. To our luck, this is a five game series” Minas‘ Carol Gattaz
- “We lacked concentration. We let a lot of dumb balls fall, it can’t happen at this level. Sesc will never gift us with these kind of points. We have to have our heads on straight” – Minas‘ Rosamaria Montibeller
- “We opened up the series with a win, which boosted our confidence. Today, our team was great. We entered the game very concentrated. We did not expect a sweep. We are happy with the win, but we know the series is not over. We expect another great game Saturday. Minas committed a lot of mistakes today, which didn’t help their team” – Sesc’s Roberta Ratzke
