Released After Winning Final’s MVP, Claudinha Pens Goodbye To Praia

Despite leading Dentil Praia Clube/Uberlândia to its first Superliga title, winning the Finals MVP award along the way, Claudinha never enjoyed much fan support in the team in her 3 season with the club. This contributed for the team’s decision to let her go, even though she led the team to two Superliga finals. She will be replaced by Team USA’s Carli Lloyd.

Stating to have no hard feelings against the club, Claudinha took to Instagram to say goodbye to the city, the club, and its fans:

“Careful: Wall of text!

Another season is over. I, of course, could not refrain from stopping by on here and thank everyone for this wonderful year. It was a season of hard work, companionship, courage, unity, and training. We had defeats, but many victories. We had crying, but much laughter. It was a season of much learning and growing. I thank God first for giving me the strength to always continue with my dreams and goals. I also want to thank entire management of Praia Clube, the sponsors, the coaching staff, the athletes, and all employees who organized everything for our training and games.

I also want to thank each person who was part of this story: Club members, non-members, journalists, all who cheered and believed, even in defeats, and also to the critics who make us want to improve ever more. To my friends, my family that will always be with me, to everybody who somehow participated in building this body of work that brought this crown to Uberlândia, my sincere gratitude.

Volleyball is not only my profession, but what I love doing. We know that we do not live only of good times. There is no right or wrong, only points of view, your knowledge and your way of being. That’s all. Another cycle closes, with much happiness and affection. I wish many blessings to all.”

Claudinha is now reported to have inked a deal with Osasco, this season’s 4th place finisher. Although a bittersweet ending to Claudinha’s career, Praia’s decision does show just how much Team USA’s Carli Lloyd market value is at an all-time high.

Hoje tem textão! 📝 Mais uma temporada se acaba. Claro que eu não poderia deixar de passar aqui para agradecer esse ano maravilhoso. Foi uma temporada de muito trabalho, companheirismo, garra, união e treinos. De derrotas, mas muito mais de vitórias. De choro, mas muito mais de risadas. Foi uma temporada de muito aprendizado e amadurecimento. Agradeço primeiramente a Deus por me dar força para sempre continuar com meus sonhos e objetivos. Agradeço a toda diretoria do Praia Clube, aos patrocinadores e comissão técnica. A todas as atletas e funcionários que organizam tudo para nossos treinos e jogos. E a cada pessoa que fez parte dessa história. Aos sócios, aos não sócios, aos jornalistas. A todos que torceram e acreditaram mesmo nas derrotas e também aos críticos que nos fazem querer sempre mais. Aos meus amigos, a minha família que sempre estará comigo, a todos que de alguma forma tiveram sua participação para construirmos esse trabalho que coroamos com esse título inédito para cidade de Uberlândia. O vôlei não é só minha profissão e sim o que amo fazer. Sabemos que não vivemos só de momentos bons, e não existe certo ou errado, mas sim seu ponto de vista, seu conhecimento e sua forma de ser.
