“At this moment every detail makes a difference. Of course we are fighting against a very strong team, which is doing their homework just like us. So we are studying them a lot. It becomes increasingly difficult. Nothing is finished yet. We have to fight a lot to win in their court. We have a very strong group that fights all the time. The crowd today made a lot of difference. They supported the whole time. The team was very solid, fighting the whole time. We were hungry for points, and that made all the difference.”

  • Two days later, Vôlei Nestlé/Osasco beat Dentil Praia Clube/UberLãndia 3-1 (31/29 27/25 24/26 25/19) behind Tandara Caixeta‘s 36 points. Fernanda Garay had 19 points in the losing effort. Tandara’s scoring output is the new Superliga record for a 4 sets match. She commented on what it meant to force a decisive game 5:

“This game was very important for us. We erred very little, and I believe this made the difference. All the sets were very tight. We did not make mistakes at the decisive moments. We enjoyed it. Now everything we’ve done in the entire championship, we have to put in the fifth game. It will as if this game will the game 1 of the finals.”

  • Sesc/RJ eliminated Camponesa/Minas (25/11 21/25 25/18 25/18) behind Juciely Barreto‘s 19 points on 13/20 (65%) hitting. Destinee Hooker had 11 points 8/32 (25%) hitting on the losing effort, while Sonja Newcombe contributed with 9 points on 6/17 (35%) hitting. Overall, Minas only hit 33 from the court as a team for the game. Here are the post match reactions:

“The team is to be congratulated. We know what we’ve been through to reach this 14th consecutive final. It was a very different year, marked by many injuries. At the moment we needed the most, all the players helped each other and we managed to reach another final. On the other side, we will face a great squad regardless of which team qualifies for the decision. Glad to be in one more final.” – Juciely Barreto

“Ou loss does not erase the great season that we had. We won two important titles this year. My sadness is for not being able to help my team in the most important phase of the championship. I want to thank and congratulate everyone because, regardless of us not making a good semifinal series, it was a good season. Next season, it’s another story.” Carol Gattaz
